✍️ Tracking Skills in 2nd Grade
Get clear on what you're watching for so you're ready for those parent-teacher conferences
You know how it is: The school year gets rolling, things get busy, and even the best-laid plans get forgotten.
I remember many years when I started out with a clear vision for how I was going to track my students’ progress, but then November came around and I hadn’t really taken the time to observe and record. 😬
But the year I taught 2nd grade was different. I prioritized preparing my observation and recording strategies, made a list of the skills we were focusing on, and then made and printed forms to track my observations. And guess what. It worked! I had solid observations to share with parents and a clear picture of how we were going to continue building skills as the year progressed.
It was great. I felt confident about what I was doing and my students made incredible strides. (Which, is sort of a 2nd grade thing, I’ve come to understand.)
